Medicinal Bottles

1014 P. St. Lincoln, NE. Simeon E. Roy is the owner of the pharmacy and supplied residents with local medicines from 1889 to 1915.

This is the second bottle in the cistern collection from Roy's Pharmacy. 

Sounder's Elecant Flavoring Extract bottled in Dayton, Ohio, by Royal Remedy & Ext Co. 

This bottle is one of two in the cistern collection, this nerve tonic was very popular and would have been used to treat almost everything, from; helping relax, aches, tiredness and much more. 

Paine's Celery Compound, almost intact bottle missing part of two side. Kick-up with the number 20 inside. It is an amber colored bottle. This is a nerve tonic and would have been used to treat many different medical problems.

This is a dark green bottle, it is complete. No markings on the outside of the bottle, but on the bottom there is the name Hunyadi Janos, Saxlehner's bitterouelle. Hunyadi Janos is the name of a Hungarian soldier that lived 1407-1456. The Saxlehner's name is the name of the company that produces this mineral water. The bottle contains natural mineral springs from Budapest. These bottles would have been carbonated, and would have a cork plug with a metal wire holding it in. These bottles were popular in the United States from the 1870's to the 1920's.

Warner's Safe (Kidney and Liver Cure)

This is a medicinal product that was made to help cure liver and kidney problems. H. H. Warner is the founder of the Warner safe medicinal company. This company had plants world wide, and was one of the top producers in medicine. This particular bottle is from Rochester NY. The bottle dates between 1884-1887, this is figured out because the Rochester branch opened in 1884, and by 1887 the company switched the bottle shape to that of the log cabin design. The safe on the front of the bottle was iconic to the Warner safe line of products, the safe is a symbol for Warner's previous career in the business of selling safes where he made his fortune. He switched to the medicine field after he became sick with liver problems, this is when he bought the cure from another doctor after it allegedy cured him of his illness. With this cure he soon started making other cures and medicinal products. Why I say allegedy cured him is becuase this product contained large amounts of alcohol, and that is not good for your liver or kidneys.
